IABC/Toronto names Founder and CEO of AccessNow Maayan Ziv as its 2018 Communicator of the Year


The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)/Toronto have chosen Founder and CEO of AccessNow Maayan Ziv, as Communicator of the Year (COTY) for 2018. Ms. Ziv was selected by unanimous decision by a panel of five senior communicators.

Maayan is a passionate and powerful advocate for creating a more accessible and inclusive world. In 2015, Maayan founded AccessNow, a digital platform that collects and shares information about the accessibility status of places worldwide. An incredible storyteller, she shares her experiences to raise awareness among people of all abilities, educate people on the importance of inclusion, and mobilize people around the world to make a difference.

Ms. Ziv’s communications leadership stands out in the world of advocacy. She understands the role of social and digital media in connecting with people to champion the cause.

“What I’ve realized as an entrepreneur is that we need to innovate if we are going to make the world more accessible. By rallying communities to work together we’re able to help create meaningful change and foster authentic experiences of inclusion,” Ms. Ziv said. “Being recognized as a great communicator is a huge honour, and I’m humbled to use my voice to contribute to such an important movement.”

Every year, IABC/Toronto presents the COTY award to a leader in the GTA who demonstrates exceptional leadership and communications skills. Ms. Ziv will formally receive the award at the annual COTY breakfast.
